Personal Information Policy & Complaints procedure

I, Carol Brown, collect basic personal data about you. 


For the purpose of making contact with you about your counselling sessions, I collect:

Your name 

Your address

Your phone number

Your email address 


In addition and only with your express permission, I may also request:

Details of your GP

Details of any current medications or treatments that you are undertaking

Contact details of a next of kin


I am registered as the Data Controller for my business with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) no. C1379164 and take the protection of your data very seriously. I store your contact details on my electronic devices which are password protected. I will delete all your information two years after the date our counselling relationship ending. You have a right at any time to ask what information I hold on you. 

If you feel there has been a breach of your data and wish to raise a complaint, please contact me directly by emailing enquiries@carolscounsellingspace.com. I will respond to your query within 30 days and undertake to address your concerns and reply as quickly as possible after that. You can also contact the Information Commissioners Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 11 13.


In addition, for your security I have a “Living Therapeutic Will”. In the event of my death or incapacitation through illness, a nominated fellow counsellor will receive the name and contact details of my current clients. The nominated person will contact my clients to inform them of my situation.
